Private Lessons & Programs
Personalized, hands-on baking and culinary instruction designed around your goals, experience level, and home kitchen.
Private Lessons
Personalized one-on-one culinary coaching in your own kitchen. Private lessons are ideal for students who want focused instruction, step-by-step guidance, and the confidence to cook or bake more independently.
Lessons can be customized around baking, pastry, savory cooking, knife skills, seasonal ingredients, or a specific recipe or technique you want to master.
Best for a specific recipe, technique, or targeted culinary goal.
Group Lessons
Small-group lessons are designed for friends, siblings, families, or motivated students who want to learn together. Each class combines hands-on instruction with a warm, social experience.
Julia customizes the menu around the group’s interests, tastes, and learning goals, guiding students through each step while teaching transferable skills they can use long after the lesson ends.
Kids & Teens Lessons
Chef Julia works especially well with kids and teens, helping them build confidence, curiosity, and real kitchen skills in a safe, encouraging environment.
Students learn foundational skills such as baking science, recipe reading, kitchen safety, timing, organization, and creative decision-making.
These lessons are especially well suited to young cooks who are curious, engaged, and ready to build practical skills that last.
Culinary & Pastry Programs
For students who want more in-depth coaching, Chef Julia offers customized multi-lesson programs that build skills progressively over time. These programs are ideal for teens, adults, or families who want a more structured learning path. Programs may include four, six, or more sessions depending on the student’s goals.
Sample programs include Baking Foundations, Teen Baking Skills, Pastry Basics, Culinary Confidence for Beginners, and Parent-Child Baking Series.
Each program is customized to the student’s goals and designed to build knowledge, technique, independence, and confidence.
Best for progressive skill development through a structured series of lessons.

What to Expect
Personalized planning
Chef Julia works with you to choose the right menu, techniques, and level of difficulty based on the student’s interests, experience, and goals.
In your own kitchen
Lessons take place in the client’s home, using the tools and appliances students will continue cooking and baking with. Chef Julia may bring teaching materials and backup tools as needed.
Typically two hours
Most lessons run approximately two hours, depending on the menu, number of students, and lesson format. Multi-session programs are scheduled according to the curriculum and the student’s goals.
Recipes, ingredients, and preparation
Chef Julia provides the recipes, exact ingredient quantities, and a detailed shopping list well in advance of each lesson. Clients purchase the ingredients and complete any requested preparation before the scheduled class, so expectations and costs are clear ahead of time.
Ages and experience levels
Lessons are available for kids, teens, adults, and families and are tailored to each student’s age, skill level, pace, and learning goals. Chef Julia generally works with students age 8 and older, with exceptions considered based on readiness and lesson format.
Parent or adult presence
For students under 18, a parent or responsible adult must remain in the home throughout the lesson. The adult does not need to participate unless the lesson is designed as a parent-child experience.
Private and small-group formats
Lessons may be arranged for one student, siblings, friends, families, or other small groups. Group size and lesson design depend on the available kitchen space, menu, ages of the participants, and level of hands-on instruction required.
Allergies and dietary needs
All food allergies, dietary restrictions, and relevant kitchen concerns must be shared before the lesson is planned. Chef Julia will discuss whether a menu can be reasonably adapted, but clients are responsible for purchasing appropriate ingredients and maintaining an environment suitable for their needs.
Pricing
Private lessons and multi-session programs are priced according to format, number of students, and curriculum. Final pricing is confirmed after Julia reviews the student’s goals, location, and preferred lesson structure.
Serving the Peninsula
Chef Julia serves Redwood City and surrounding Peninsula communities, generally within a 30-minute travel radius. Requests outside the usual service area may be considered depending on availability and the lesson format.
